Hey, what's up? This is the Objective Jerk, and I am said jerk. How's everybody doing? Hope everybody's doing well, doing better than the Philippines, at least right now. Got this massive typhoon coming in. Typhoon! What's it called? Let me see. I got my so just so wow, that was really loud. Just so you know, I got uh the fans are all going and windows are open and stuff. Because it's it's actually kind of cool because of the storm, but so it's you know, the audio, you hear the and it's got audio, whatever feet. I don't know, it's it's not gonna sound the greatest. So for that I apologize. I don't have a studio, I'm just in my little office room. Let's see. It should let me see. I was gonna just look up just to kind of help date this whatever the of course there's nothing coming up right now. All I see is weather updates and crap, and then when I want to find it, you ever notice that, man? You're like, oh man, I've been seeing this thing on Facebook. Here, let me get on here and scroll through. It'll come up because it's been coming up, and then nothing. It's like it it knows. I hate it. What is this typhoon called? Why is stuff I muted it? Why is it still playing? I hate Facebook. Okay, hold on. Power advisory. Yeah, well, no kidding. Let's see if it's under here. Yeah, so the power is probably gonna be out. Well, it will be out for sure. Don't know how long. Storm surge super typhoon. Fungwong? U-won a one? Fengwon? What the hell? Anyway. Okay, so that's the typhoon that's hitting the Philippines. It just started hitting land on those outer parts of the island. We're on the other side and we're pretty far up north. So we we I mean, it's it could change a little bit as of right now. It's still kind of early to say, but the projected path is we're not in the worst part of it, you know, but we're we're definitely gonna get hit with some wind and rain. So yay, that's fun. I was kind of thinking, like, man, I need to do a podcast before just because I might not be able to, and but I didn't have nothing to talk about really, so but now I do. I want to talk about the predator movie Badlands, and I haven't even seen the damn thing, but I'm gonna talk about it. But before I do, I also went to I had an appointment with for the VA, and it's in this town that's like four hours away. If you were if it was in the States, distance-wise, it would take maybe an hour to get there. Here it takes an hour. I thought maybe early morning Saturday would be, you know, not too bad. Yeah, I was way wrong. It's just like there was funeral processions everywhere, and you know, that's that's good. They do it on Saturday because nobody has to go to work. I hate it when they do it during the weekday. But I'm not gonna talk too much about it because you guys know how I feel about the the traffic and the way they drive here, which is horrendous. But there was this, so there's this highway, there's national highways that there aren't many roads to go anywhere. So like if we had to straight up evacuate from here, would be kind of screwed because there's only one highway to go anywhere. So everybody, you know, it would just that's one thing that's like like if I don't know, if there was a volcano on my end here and it was gonna erupt, and we, you know, we had to, you know, yeah. So there isn't, so but I'm just saying, it's just the the the trip the the what would you call it? I don't know, it's just the highway systems. There are none. You know, there's one national highway that people drive on, like retards that go slow. It's just horrendous, man. It's not even a good road. It's not very wide, it's just it's horrendous. Anyway, so this being the only road to go up, you know, north or south, and this church had a funeral and had their procession, and it was like two funerals, and they blocked the traffic, and they're letting people in this long procession. We waited for like 20 minutes, we were stuck. And it was like, this is the only road to go anywhere. How are you blocking the road for this funeral procession? Like the planning is horrible. Filipinos cannot plan or plan ahead or think ahead. That is that is a fact. So if you want to say otherwise, maybe not everybody, but most everybody. They just they cannot plan ahead or think ahead or make a decision sometimes. Anyway, that's my gripe. I love the Philippines though. The people are alright. Anyway, predator Badlands. Okay, let's see. How do I want to talk about this? So I'm talking about this now because I made a comment. Maybe I'll read the comments. I'll read the comments real quick just to kind of so you guys know what's going on. Let's see, where is it at? Let's see. So, you know, there was a Badlands thing, so and somebody posted, like, don't listen to the haters. I'm not going to spoil anything, but it brings the whole trilogy together. Aliens, predators, and soon Blade Runner. It was the first rebellion of a synthetic. I so okay, no, I'll talk about that later. So I was like, no haters. The film was an interesting premise. This is what I said. If it wasn't a predator, it if it was an entirely new character or creature, people would be excited. They're trying to make it look like people are excited, but people aren't. I mean, some people are, you know, I'm not gonna lie, but to most people, predator is a scary monster that is a deadly foe in a thriller action film, not a buddy cop film. That's what I said. He's like, anyone still finding predator scary today has been living under a rock. So these these are the people that are fanboys, right? I'll just say that for right now. And this film is part of the oh yeah, so anybody who wait, what was I saying this? I don't even understand why I said that. And this film is part of the promise that throwing Alien vs. Predator in it, it can be done with talented people, specifically good writing, prey, although not a great film, succeeded in creating tension and fear. He says it has nothing to do with that, it has to do with how long it's been around. People are raising their kids around predator films. It's a household name brand. At most, people expect new gadgets and action sequences. This film, instead of retreading the typical predator bad human good narrative, decided to explore more of the lore, which was exactly what Rodriguez originally wanted to do with Predators, but couldn't get the backing budget and support. Well, I've never heard so I mean he's not wrong. This and I I'm not even griping about this guy, actually, is it just a different guy? We've been playing video games and you know, reading books, and so I get all like that. You know, and again, okay, yes, I know there's fanboys and there's normies, right? There's a big difference. And then I said, un oh no, this is the same director has made three completely predators. So he's talking about this guy who directed this this one here. And I was like, it's not the director so much as the writing, and great directors can make bad films. I was like, if you like it, cool. I was just trying to clarify why most don't, or a lot don't. And then he's like, and you'd be wrong. I said, yeah, okay. He said, your knowledge is clear movie only, which he's right. And then I said, okay, I'm a moron, because I criticized a film in regards to past films, but because I don't read the comics or watch animated films, I'm a moron. Predator was not based on a comic, and everything else predator related outside the films is for a small niche market or audience. I am not that audience. I am what people call a normie. I like films or used to. Uh, you apparently are a fanboy, and that's cool, but don't get angry because most audiences do not follow. I just had to extend it and resident. Most audiences do not follow all the coutremonts. Yeah. I I had to look that up how to spell it though. That go with it. They watch and know the films, and the low box office so far shows this. Maybe this will be a cult classic someday. I doubt it, but maybe. Just enjoy your movie and don't be such a pussy because others don't. So basically, you know, so here we are. Here's like a here's an argument between a fanboy who reads the comics and all the lore and all the different stuff, and there's all kinds of it. I get it, you know what I mean? And and they explore different aspects, and he's not wrong. I guess it was the same guy. I thought I was thinking it was someone different. You know, he's not wrong. Like, we don't want to see a retread of movies, but don't if it's not broke, don't fix it. You know what I'm saying? Predator is one of the greatest action movies of all time, right? Like objectively, right? Predator 2. I like so look, okay. I'm trying to my brain is like so. It's like, you know, in Predator 2 did the same formula, but they did it in a city to change it up. Okay, cool. And then that was kind of it, because it didn't do that great, right? Then you had the predator predator versus aliens, which sucked. They were entertaining but forgettable. Predators, which like what he mentioned there, I like that movie. I own that movie. And that was cool because they did take it on a different, you know. Now, yeah, the you know, he he he you know became friends with the predator to get out of the thing. Okay. That's fine, but you know, it wasn't like joking, and I don't know, it's just it's not the same kind of film, you know. Again, I have not seen Predator Badlands. I probably never well, I wouldn't say that. If it pops up on Netflix and I'm in the mood to watch a film, I might watch it. But I just I have no desire to. I'd rather just watch some of the older predator movies, you know. But then that movie didn't do all that great, you know what I mean? And then you had the predators, right? Was that the next one? That what's his face, which was horrible, and it was all jokey and funny and lighthearted and this and that. Yes, it kept the predator as, you know, the the oh man, I heard that the bad guy and and whatever, and it went heavy on with the the characters and the and the and the autism and all that kind of stuff, but it didn't work, you know, it was horrible. So then what do they do? They make well, they made the prey movie, right? Which went to streaming, right? And I actually I enjoyed the film. I don't think I would buy it. I would watch it again, I guess. But there was a couple things that was like, oh gosh, come on, dude. But overall it was pretty good, you know. It went in the you know, in the early, you know, 19 or late 18th century. No, I guess that's 19th century. But and they did it different. It was a different way to look at it, and the monster was still scary. Yes, we know what he looks like and this and that, but it's still seeing characters, nothing's gonna, nothing's gonna ever be as good as when the audience saw it for the first time, right? You can never you can never recapture that with the predator. I mean, they tried changing some stuff and whatever, but you just can't do it, you know. So now it's like what is attractive to people is the is the characters and how they respond and react to it and everything, right? So, you know, the only way you're gonna have the same kind of response as the original predator is creating their own alien monster, you know. And that's what they should have done with this Predator Badlands, they should have just called it Badlands and just made a different kind of alien kind of thing. I think it would be doing better. But again, it's a Disney film, people just are done with Disney for one thing. There are people that I follow that did like it, and there are people that I follow that didn't like it, you know. But people that did like it was like it's it's it's okay, you know, it's not because they just had their their expectations so low, you know. But the thing is, is when you you can't take niche fanboy stuff and put it out to the masses and expect everybody to just gobble it up because they won't. You know what I mean? It's you you just can't. You have to, I don't know. There's it's just they're so I don't know what it is. It's like they're trying to just they're trying to make another Marvel cinematic universe. I think is what it is. All the Hollywoods are just hoping to kind of you know start bringing in all this huge universe of different characters and this and this, instead of just focusing on a few characters and writing them well, and it and it takes time. It's like you can build a universe, but you gotta do it slowly and correct, not just everybody in the first movie, you know. It's kind of, I don't know. But honestly, I think they should knock it off because it's it's hurting the film industry, you know, and the people that own movie theaters because they ain't making dick, you know. But so it's like you have to for the films, you know, you have the comics, you have all the stuff for all the all the all the fanboys and all the nerds. Yeah, you know, the Marvel universe started and it was fanboys or maybe above, maybe that kind of knew, but the movies were appealing to people who were normies that didn't know anything about Iron Man. I mean, I knew a little bit, but I never really read the comics that much. But I knew his basic story and everything. But you had people that didn't really, you know, they've heard of him, but that's it, you know, and then the the movie looked good, and so they learned who he was through the movie. So it's kind of a fine line, I guess. You know, you can't just and then when you when you do this Whalen thing with the droid and and all this stuff, which is probably pulled exact right from a comic. I'm sure there's a comic that this is based off of or whatever. But again, most people, when they think of Predator, they know the Predator films. That's what they've seen, that's what they've watched, and that's what they don't go off of comics and animated and all that kind of crap. They don't, they don't, you know what I mean? So it's like the all the little coutrements that go with some of these IPs, all the comics and and and manga and and animated stuff and whatever, that's for the fanboys, you know. The normies are not gonna, they they're not gonna go out of their way to watch all that stuff. They're good. You know, they they like a good movie to escape, but they live their life and do whatever, you know what I mean? That's a normie. I don't consider myself a normie. I'm not nowhere near a fanboy, but I'm you know, I'm a little in between. More normie than fanboy, I've said before, but so it's just you know, and you get these people that are arguing and they're getting so butthurt. Oh, well, you you're more uh because you it's like what because I don't read all the comics and shit? Like what dude, the movie. I mean, you know, again, I have not seen it, so I can't, but I've seen so many, you know, people break it down, the basic story and the all the you know stuff. So it's you know, I've seen enough of that to know that yeah, I probably would not like it. Again, yeah, I may, I may watch it someday, but probably not. This is what I'm gonna watch here coming up. Bam! Bam. I don't know, can you even see that? Let me see. I'll get a little closer. The Abyss, bro. Now, this is a movie, okay? I used to have the DVD, but I don't know what happened to it. So I bought the 4K Blu-ray, whatever. Trying to get a family night going to watch it, but it's been whatever. But so that's you know, that's a film. Predator is a film, you know what I mean? And nothing that comes out today is is a film. It's all just junk. It's junk food. I don't know what it is, but I mean there are some, but I don't know. You know, it's just so for normal people who grow up, grew up on Predator, I think obviously love the first like I love the first predator. I love the second predator, and I haven't watched Second Predator, it's been a little while now, because I don't own it. I need to buy it. But I like the second one, and yeah, the second one threw in a little little little nugget with the alien, you know, whatever, and like the whole possibility is kind of cool. And this was what, '92 when that came out. So two I don't know when the first Alien vs. Predator. I've seen I watched, I went to theaters and I saw both Alien vs. Predator, and they were fun, but I don't own them. I don't care to own them. I don't really if I, you know, was channel surfing, maybe I'd watch it, which I don't channel surf anymore because I don't have channels, but you know, it's just like whatever. And then, like I said, predators, I'll I'll watch again. And I watch it's been a little bit now, but I'll watch it. I like that film, I think it was cool, it expanded on the universe a little bit. And then the predator sucked balls. Prey was like Alien versus Predator to me. It was it was pretty good, it was enjoyable, but I'd rather watch Predator or Predator 2, you know what I mean? Or predators, and then now you have this one. It's like, you know, and they're like, oh, well, they're trying to explore, it's like they want to explore the lore and do all this thing. It's like I don't care about predators, like, in at least not in detail. I don't want character arcs on the predator, I don't want to watch daddy issues, I don't want to watch all that kind of uh banter with between a predator and and a freaking android and and they got a cute fuzzy animal. It's like what? No, no. I mean, you know, and it exists, and it'll probably still continue to exist. But if they don't want people like myself to hate on it, they need to still release Predator that's more akin to what the film started. The films started. You know what I mean? Why can't they make for both? Why can't they make films for normies and make films for because they're like, oh well, not everybody's gonna if we only do predator and put predator on it, then the predator fans will go watch it. No, we won't. And we don't. It does not work. So and the thing is, this film is not doing that great on the box in the box office because normies don't want to watch that crap. This is only for the fanboys who do the comics and whatever, you know. It's it's gonna fail, it's gonna flunk, they're gonna be all pissed, but it's like, hey, you got your movie. But the thing is that's annoying, is it doesn't matter today. Things fail and they still get greenlit. So they'll still make another predator movie off of this. You know, it's like I just I don't get it. You know, if a movie didn't make a lot of money back in the day, they didn't make no sequels. They didn't make, you know, and it's like only now are films getting sequels because that's all they can do. They can't write their own shit, they're just regurgitating. And I've talked about that before, but it's just, you know, that's that's just the way it is. Like, you know, we want at least predators, you know, you didn't know. And I'm talking about the one with Adrian Brody where they're on the planet, and I love that whole concept, you know. And I thought it was great. The only thing I didn't like was like the little running alien things that were for the predators to also hunt, I guess, is like practice or something. And I don't really like the dogs, I don't like the predator dogs. That was about the only thing I didn't like. But, you know, when he when he goes there and he he breaks free, the one that's like tied up because he was a subordinate or whatever, I don't know. Or he's insubordinate, you know, you didn't know if he was gonna kill him. You know, how do you know? Like, there's you know, like they he was able to communicate, hey, I want to get out of here, this and that, and whatever, and and he understood, and they did it. It wasn't like, yo, bro, I want to get on the spaceship, and he's like, Okay, you know, it wasn't no, there's none of that crap, dude. It's there's still you need to keep the predators in cloak still. There still needs to be some mystery. You know, you still gotta when you know everything about it, it loses all of its you know mystery. The the what what makes a good scary kind of character antagonist? And they should never be the protagonist, man. Maybe briefly, okay. So like in Predators, he was a protagonist, the one he cut down for a minute, but if he didn't get killed, you know, he he could have turned around and killed Adrian Brody, because that's what they do, you know. And then this one is like you just know everything about the alien. It's like, you know, give us a little bit of their whatever, but it's just it's just too much, you know. And and and then like this dude that was arguing with me on Facebook, it's like, and he doesn't get that. He just, oh well, you know, and I understand what he's saying because, you know, I was when when the Marvel films first came out, or you know, movies that like what movie, okay, like The Born Identity, which is old now, it's crazy. But I read that book when I was younger, and I remember being in the theaters, and I remember the trailer, and it was kind of showing it, and I was like, man, this is like the born identity. I was like, is this the born identity? You know, because we didn't have social media, and there was no this is how I found out, and I was like, oh, dude, it is. So, you know, I was excited about a world I knew, and they were gonna so like I get it, you know, and then these people read these comics and they know like these the lore of the predators and their world and all that kind of stuff, and that's cool for them. They want to know that, they read it. I don't, and most people don't. We don't care. We like the predator as the dark and mysterious killing machine monster, you know what I mean? And you know, when they say like, oh, everybody grows up, they know about the predator, it's not scary. It's like if you're a good filmmaker and a good writer, you can make it scary. Prey had some tense moments and made it creepy again, even though you know what it looks like and what it does and what it is, it's still because you know, all you had was Indians with bows and arrows and her little hatchet thing and stuff like that. The only problem I had that with that movie was the Mary Sooness, which wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was gonna be, but you know, it was pr it was pretty good. But then, so that guy who directed that now is and then he directs this thing, so it's like they're just going after the comics and this stuff, and it's like normies don't care, we don't care. So I'm happy that these people, these fanboys have their film and and all that kind of stuff, but it's like the thing is is like the box off is hurting so bad because the normies are being left out. We you know, I mean there are people in this, you know, it well, it's the normies and then MAGA, and just you know, all the films are just even like this new new neurum neur Nuremberg film with Russell Crowe, where he's playing one of the biggest douches of the Nazis. Can't think of think of his name. The court would like I was like, oh, that sounds pretty good. But then at the end, I guess there's some text there, and they're trying to say, like, oh, it's happening today, watch out, and it's like, oh my god, are you so now I'm not gonna watch it. So and I'm at that point in my life where I have not watched enough films where it doesn't bother me, you know. It used to be like, oh man, I really want to watch that, man. Now I just I don't care. And that's thanks to all this bullshit that Hollywood has created and done, you know. It's like, I don't know. That's it. When you let me know what you think. Did you guys see the movie? Did you like it? And if you liked it, fine, man. That's fine. Like I said, I might watch it someday, and maybe it'll be a cult classic. I don't think it will. But, you know, it just And then plus the trailers, I didn't like the way the the Predator looked. There was nothing really about it that really was like, oh man, what's going on there? Oh, I gotta watch this. I was just like, no, and then the stuff I heard, still no, and then you know, once I get to that point, then I'll watch spoiler reviews where they talk about it in detail. So I know everything about the film now, and you know, I don't care. It's like it's just not interesting to me. So, anyway, let me know. Did you like it? If you liked it, cool, but explain to me why, not just be like, oh, you're an idiot. Okay, well, why why is it I'm an idiot though? Why do you think I'm an idiot? Explain that to me. But they they don't do that anyway. Like, share, subscribe, all that crap. Say some prayers for the Filipinos, uh for the country of Philippines, because this is a nasty one. And thanks for hanging out, and I'll see you next time. All right, God bless. All right, bye.
